Future Considerations Space allocations will no doubt be altered as time passes. After 50 years, the use of family and survivor facilities will probably decline, and most of these areas converted to public use or a future need. Possibilities include using this space to display material and accounts from the family and survivors who used them. The stone garden is designed to appeal to future generations as a natural space with some greenery along with a reminder of the historical meaning. Civil war battlefields are places today's families go for picnics and recreation, combined with exposure to America's past. As a 21st century battlefield the World Trade Center Memorial should one day serve the same purpose for America's future generations. |
